Year 5

Through our termly   topics pupils will develop skills in chronological understanding, historical   interpretation and knowledge of events, people and changes through studies in   Victorian Times – a study of some significant events, people and everyday   life. This topic also includes a trip   to the Black Country Museum to experience a day in the life of a Victorian   servant, and a Victorian day in school. They will also study life during   World War II, including a visit to RAF Cosford, the ancient Greeks and the ancient Inca civilisation.

Year 6

Through our termly   topics pupils will develop skills in   chronological understanding, historical interpretation, knowledge and   understanding of events, people and changes through studies of the Romans,   Vikings/Anglo Saxons. They also have   an Ancient Roman Day in School.

Year 7

Pupils will develop   skills in chronological understanding, historical interpretation and   knowledge, understanding and significance of events, people and changes   through studies of England, Scotland and Wales in the Middle Ages.

Later in the year   children study Medieval Realms, focusing on the significance of the Bayeux   Tapestry to the Battle of Hastings. Finally, they study why people in the   Middle Ages went on long journeys.

Year 8

Pupils   will develop skills in chronological understanding, historical interpretation   and knowledge and understanding of events. This includes the Tudor   Reformation, Queen Elizabeth I and the Spanish Armada, the English Civil War,   the British Empire and Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, with a trip to the   National Slavery Museum in Liverpool.
