Citizenship / PSHEE

 

Year 5

In PSHE /   Citizenship pupils will learn about and discuss to heighten awareness of   issues relating to: Respect; For   themselves and others, emotions, feelings, skills for caring self-esteem,   bullying, disabilities and personal safety. Money matters: managing their money, saving, budgeting. Responsibilities: At school, home and   in the community. There will also be   SEAL units integrated into the scheme. (Social and emotional aspects of   learning). Examples – New beginnings,   Getting on and falling out, changes.

Year 6

In PSHE   and Citizenship pupils will learn about and discuss to heighten awareness of   issues relating to Drugs – making   choices for healthy lifestyle, understanding about different drugs &   making judgements. Community –   Protecting the environment, Eco-school, packaging and recycling, pollution,   conservation, safety skills. Sex   education - Be aware of their   bodies’ changes at puberty, strategies for dealing with puberty, peer   pressure and friendships. Healthy   eating - Understanding the importance of a balanced diet and how to   achieve it. Importance of reducing fat, sugar and salt in our diet. There   will also be SEAL units integrated into the scheme. (Social and emotional   aspects of learning). New beginnings and changes.

Year 7

In PSHE   and Citizenship pupils will learn and discuss to heighten awareness of issues   relating to What is Citizenship? What   makes a good citizen, living in a community, respect, abiding by rules and   fairness. Be the best you can be : a   project designed to promote motivation and determination to succeed in all   areas of life.

Year 8

In PSHE and   Citizenship pupils will learn and discuss to heighten awareness of issues   relating to:

Crime: The Justice System   and the moral and social question relating to behaviour. Finance: Managing money, the tax system, local and national   finances. Global community: The   world as a global community, how we fit into the global world, trade with   other countries. Drugs: making   choices, moral and social consequences. Government   and Parliament: Visit from our local MP to discuss what Parliament is and   the job of an MP. Pupils will have an   open forum to ask questions on a variety of topics. Relationships: Anger management and life skills, preparation for   High School, Families and peer pressure, Relationships education.
