'Be the Best you can Be'

Worship and Church Links

The school celebrates is foundation through collective worship that is distinctly Christian but inspires and includes the whole community.  The school has a rolling programme of Worship themes which often develops Christian Values.  The Executive Head introduces the theme first thing each Monday to the whole school.  This is developed further in class worship on Tuesday morning.  Hymns and special songs are developed with the whole school on Thursday in 'Sing Up'.  The weekly prayers are then used again in our weekly Friday Celebration Assembly with parents attending.  Other  senior school leaders lead worship if the Headteacher is not available.

As a Church School, we believe that it is important for the school community to gather together, both to celebrate pupil achievements  and provide the opportunity to take part in acts of class worship.  During this time pupils are able to reflect upon, discuss and explore the themes and values chosen.  This is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith together.

Worship is mainly led  by the Executive Headteacher but it is also led by visitors including the Rev P. Moon and lay readers from St Mary & St Chads Church in Brewood.

There are  strong links with St Mary & St Chads Church and all the children visit church termly for special services at the beginning of each term, Harvest, Remembrance, Christmas, Easter and our end of year thanksgiving service.  A variety of other visits during the year allow pupils to explore the Church and faith.  Our harvest offering each year supports the local food bank.  Parents and other visitors are welcomed to these services.  Parents have the right to withdraw their child from taking part in acts of worship.  However, the Executive Headteacher must be informed prior to any parent exercising this right.

Celebration Assembly

Each Friday we have a special Celebration Assembly to give out special awards to pupils.  These include the 'Be the Best you can Be!' certificates for work that  is 'over and above' or outstanding work.

Parents are warmly invited to attend these assemblies and often stay behind to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and to have their photographs taken with their child with their special Merit Certificate or other special award.

Class Worship

Each term classes present a class  worship to show work they have discussed  or produced in class.  These are held on Fridays and often develops further our worship theme of the week.  They often contain readings, poems, short role play or drama activities.

St Mary's SIAMS Inspection

We are very proud that St Mary's CE First School, our federated school, achieved GOOD when it was inspected in July 2015.

Our joint governing body and all staff are delighted with this outcome.
