Welcome to our Brewood CE (C) Middle School website. I hope you find this a useful insight into our school and that it provides all the information you may need.
Our mission is to educate our pupils within a safe, happy, caring Christian environment, where all are valued and encouraged to fulfil their potential in all aspects of school life. Our school motto is 'Be the Best you can Be' and this exemplifies what we expect of pupils and adults alike at Brewood.
In the National Society's publication, 'Valuing All God's Children' it states that
'The core purpose of any Church school is to maximise the learning potential of every pupil within the love of God.
Church of England Schools have at their heart a belief that all children are loved by God, are individually unique and that the school has a mission to help each pupil to fulfil their potential in all aspects of their personhood: physically, academically, socially, morally and spiritually. Schools have a duty to try to remove any factor that might represent a hindrance to a child's fulfilment. At Brewood CE Middle School, we want all pupils to want to engage in learning in a safe and welcoming ethos.'
British Values are embedded in the life of our school. They are actively promoted through spiritual, moral, social and cultural education and form a part of our distinctive Christian character. Please see our full British Values statement below.
The governors and staff have high expectations of our pupils, regardless of their ability, and are committed to providing a high quality education for all. Our strong pastoral care system helps us to develop pupils as confident individuals who have self-discipline, respect for others and a caring attitude towards the community in which they live.
Pupils are given opportunities to develop leadership and life skills and are strongly encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities which develop their full potential.
New Academic Year 2016-17
In September 2016 we made several significant changes to our curriculum at Brewood. We launched our new Primary structure for Year 5 and 6 pupils who now spend most of the school day with their class teacher. Every day, pupils have an English, maths and core skills lesson in order for them to practise and apply basic skills of reading, writing and maths. There are a range of exciting new projects and educational visits planned by our Primary staff but pupils will still have some other lessons taught by specialist teachers. All year groups have a 15 minute mental maths starter each morning and a 15 minute lesson called ERIC (Everybody Reads in Class). We will also continue with our Accelerated Reader programme which has already helped to raise standards of reading in school. We believe these changes will benefit your child and enhance their progress and attainment at Brewood.
In December, 2016 we were subject to an OFSTED Inspection. Please see below my covering letter before reading the OFSTED Report.
If you would like further information about the school or to arrange a visit please contact the school office.
